Who is Chelsea Lynn LaBate?
Singer Songwriter Chelsea Lynn LaBate comes to Lake Worth to perform on the intimate stage of Mother Earth Coffee on Friday, January 21 at 8:00.
LaBate has spent the past four years honing her song-writing skills on the stages of NYC's Lower East Side and Brooklyn. Known for her lush "song stories," she paints pictures with her words, lyrically exploring human suffering, personal triumphs, courage, solitude and found love.
Her ghostly ballads, combine an ‘unchartable’ finger picking style with a warbling voice that captivates and stuns. Inspired by the works of Suzanne Vega, Billie Holiday, and Nick Drake, Chelsea Lynn has been prolific in her writing, and has composed and recorded dozens of songs since picking up the guitar in 2003.
She is currently based in Asheville, NC after living on the Great Road for most of 2009, and touring Europe in 2008. She is recording her new album Food, Water, Shelter to be released in 2010.

November's Featured Artist: Singer/Songwriter Felicia Rose
Who Is Felicia Rose?
Mother Earth:
How would you describe your style of songwriting and what are the sources
of your inspiration?
Felicia Rose:
"Simple and Emotional"
When I write a song, my fingers land on a few chords that resonate with my
mood. As I play them over and over, the emotion builds and the poetry
begins to flow through!
The pain and bliss, or agony and ecstasy of my state of being, determines
the strength and intensity of my vocals.
Some of my newer songs have been described by others, as "novels". The
lyrics contain the story of my struggle, the process of working through it,
the lessons learned and then the outcome.
The chorus is usually a positive affirmation that hopefully loops around
in my head and the listener's, like a mantra!
I am inspired by Higher Consciousness. Discovering the tools to manifest
living a life of integrity and truth is what fires my passion for writing!
Mother Earth:
Can you describe the high points and low points of your musical journey
and what you learned from both?
Felicia Rose:
A major high point for me is the fact that almost every time I sing I
feel connected to God/Source (whatever you choose to call it!) For me it is
the gift that helps carry me through this life!
When others experience that feeling, I call it "Love in Action!" This is
what defines my life's work, wether it is 1 person or 1 million!
I am honored, amazed and intently devoted to creating, recording and
performing these songs!
The Low points are most definitely when I compare my musical journey to
others! Worrying about venues, tours, c.d. sales, and trying to fit into
society musically with songs that are so passionately laced with mysticism!
The lessons learned from the high and low points are ones I continue to
learn daily! "Have Faith and never give up!!"
"Know that every song sung is effecting the frequency of love on this
planet, and trusting that God hears
every note!!"
Mother Earth:
What do you hope to leave with your audience in each performance?
Felicia Rose:
I hope every time I perform, people experience the Love that I am blessed
to feel as I sing! Sometimes I laugh out loud on stage or simply let my
tears flow as I am touched by Spirit during performances. Many times I feel
absolutely intoxicated with bliss and I can only pray that others are
feeling the same!
Another intention of performing and recording these songs is to relay the
message that we can help each other along in these changing times, and that
we are never alone!
Blessings of light to all!
